Miscellaneous Vintage Textile, Northumberland Wool Blanket M02 is a fabulous old wool blanket woven in a mill in Otterburn in Northumberland
It is exceptionally rare and a very early example
Woven in vertical stripes in double Bird’s Eye Weave design in shades of olive green and terracotta
This is a one off item
This blanket is from Athene English’s private collection, accumulated over many years. This collection was formed with her exceptional knowledge of the history and narrative of this country’s woollen industry, learned over decades. To buy one of these blankets is like acquiring a beautiful work of art – a part of the heritage of the British mills and spinning industry which dates back to 12th century
