Leather Studded Sighthound Collar – 12 inch

£85.00 Inc. VAT

The Leather Studded Sighthound Dog Collars are handmade and “saddle stitched” in our workshop from:

“Vegetable Tanned” English Bridle leather. (supplied by the United Kingdom’s last remaining tannery practicing this technique). Adorned with solid brass studs, and reverse lined by coloured “Tyrolean” style suede trim.

Sighthound collars are, as the name suggests, typically worn by Sight Hound/Gaze Hound dog breeds, like Lurchers, Whippets, Greyhounds Etc.

The difference between these and our other range of studded collars is the “Fishtail” design (increased girth to the width of the collar)

As most sighthound breeds have delicate coats the increased girth will prevent the skin/hair from damage & most importantly support the neck/prevent choking by spreading the pressure over a larger area.

Before Ordering

Measuring For Fitment

To take the measurement for the collar there are a couple of ways to achieve this.

Measure the neck: Have your dog stand or sit comfortably. Using a fabric tape measure is most convenient, wrap this around the base of your dog’s neck where the collar will sit so that it is snug but not too tight, depending on dog breed add either 1 to 2 (25/50mm) inches to that measurement, the extra space ensures the collar is comfortable and doesn’t constrict the dog’s neck.

Measure the collar: If your dog has a collar that already fits correctly, you can use this as a guide to measure from. Lay the collar flat and with a tape measure, measure from the tip of the buckle to the most worn hole.

The length measurement for this product stated above is not the overall length of the collar, but the length from the buckle to the middle hole that its tong fits into.

Because of this it allows you movement up and down from the stated collar size, meaning a range of sizes can fit this collar.

Using this measurement select the nearest size.
