The Lifetime Belt

Last May a fine dapper gentleman came into our shop

He was keen to bestow on me some information, which I will now share with you in a round about way…

.

Many years ago when advertising had a free-rein – and was a little more creative

We composed our first catalogue – It was a family affair with drawings by my

friend Nicky Beaumont Greeting Card and the copy written by my brother in law – Surrey Garland

We wanted our catalogue to be entertaining and based it on the adventures of Tin Tin –

Using our friends as spoof characters writing fake enteries in this epic “yarn”

One of the inclusions was The English Lifetime Belt –  The English Leather Belt – Dark Old Brown made from English bridle leather and hand stitched for added strength

Strong and robust with a quote from one of our spoof friends Ian Constantinides  – “I thought you might  be interested in the enclosed belt I bought last year from your shop. You’ll notice it has stretched and that’s because I had to use it to tow my car. Can you look it over, and maybe punch a few more holes in it, to make up the slack!’ I. Constantinides

Now 30 years later into the shop comes this dapper gentleman …. And if you play the recording above you can hear what he says….
